Description
During WWII many makers made knives to meet the demand. E.G. Waterman made many knives, and they did not receive any Govt. contracts even though they tried. Nevertheless, many soldiers private purchased these knives and can be seen in photos being used by soldiers of WWII. This one is their EGW 4th variation knife with sawback spine top. All leather handle with a steel guard and pommel and lanyard ring. Knife measures 11" overall with a blade length of 6.5". The first leather spacer by guard shows a crack, but still intact. Blade is in very good condition showing some light age patina. The sheath is correct original with 9 rivets. The top end of the sheath shows some tearing and a hole from wear near the top. The pocket of the sheath is still intact. A very nice WWII Item.(See US & Allied Military Knives of WWII Book II by Bill Walters)
